International symposiums and research forums on topics relating to the promotion of folk cultural studies are held regularly with the aim of establishing an interdisciplinary, international joint research center. On March 27–28, 2010, the ICFCS hosted its first international symposium entitled “Human Culture from the Perspective of Traditional Maritime Communities.” Five annual international symposiums have been held as of FY2013.
More international symposiums have been organized or are being planned in the second phase of the ICFCS program starting in FY2014 in conjunction with the development of its joint research projects.
